Nitish's Pre-Election Move: 35% Reservation for Bihar's Daughters, Youth Commission Approved

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): Just before the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's government has taken two big decisions to woo women and young voters. In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, it was decided that from now on, the benefit of 35 percent reservation for women in government jobs will be given only to women who are natives of Bihar. Along with this, the formation of 'Bihar Yuva Aayog' has also been approved to woo the youth.
After this historic decision of the government, now women candidates from other states will not be able to take advantage of 35% women reservation in Bihar government jobs. This rule will be applicable to direct recruitment posts in all state government services. This decision has been taken after a long-standing demand, in which there was opposition to giving reservation benefits to women from outside states. The government believes that this step will increase employment opportunities for the women of the state and strengthen their socio-economic status. To avail the benefits, it will be mandatory for women candidates to provide a certificate of being a native of Bihar.
Along with this, the cabinet also gave the green signal to the formation of 'Bihar Youth Commission' for the youth. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed happiness over this and said, "With the aim of providing maximum employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar, training them and empowering them, the state government has decided to form Bihar Youth Commission."
He said that this commission will advise the government on all matters related to improving the status and upliftment of the youth. Also, this commission will coordinate with various government departments to ensure better education and employment to the youth. Political analysts are considering both these decisions as a masterstroke of the Nitish government before the elections, which can have a direct impact on the women and youth vote bank.
