Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A major and tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Mulund, a northeastern Mumbai area. A cement slab from a metro rail pillar under construction on LBS Road suddenly broke and fell onto the road. Several vehicles were crushed under the debris. According to preliminary information, about four people were injured in this horrific accident.

A heavy slab fell on an autorickshaw

The incident occurred around 12:20 pm, directly opposite the Johnson & Johnson factory. Fire brigade officials reported that during construction, a large section of a metro pillar suddenly fell on an autorickshaw passing beneath. The three-wheeler was completely shattered. It is feared that three to four people in the autorickshaw were injured. Immediately after the incident, panic spread among local residents, and relief efforts were initiated.

Relief and rescue work continues, BMC gave information

Upon receiving information about the accident, the administration immediately swung into action. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) confirmed the incident, stating that the cement slab had collapsed during construction. The Mumbai Fire Brigade, police teams, and employees of the firm building the Metro Rail Route (Line 4) are working on a war footing to oversee the post-incident operation and rescue efforts. Ward staff and the 108 ambulance service are also present at the scene to ensure the injured are immediately transported to the hospital. Further details regarding the accident and the exact condition of the injured are awaited.
