14,000+ Women in Maharashtra District Found with Cancer Symptoms, Health Minister Informs Assembly

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Panic spread in Hingoli district of Maharashtra when cancer-like symptoms were found in 14,500 women in the same district. State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar gave this information in the assembly on Thursday. He said that this information was received about these women during screening under the Sanjeevani scheme of the state government.
Prakash Abitkar, in his written reply, told the assembly that the survey was started on March 8, Women's Day. Under this, a survey was conducted among a total of 2,92,996 women. During this survey, some questions were asked to the women, to which they replied. On the basis of these answers, it has been found that about 14,500 women have cancer-like symptoms. He said, 'Out of a total of 14,542 women, three have been found to have uterine cancer. Apart from this, one woman has breast cancer and 8 have mouth cancer. This information has come to light in the awareness campaign run by the District Collector regarding cancer. This campaign has been run so that information about cancer can be known in the initial stage and then those people can be treated.' However, the Health Minister also said that there is no proposal to build a separate cancer hospital for women. He definitely said that the screening system will be strengthened in rural areas so that it can be known what is the condition of cancer in women. The facility of its screening is also being provided in district hospitals. For this, an agreement has been made with Tata Memorial Hospital. A team from Tata Memorial Hospital will visit hospitals twice a month and conduct tests by setting up camps there. Not only this, the team will also provide training to cancer warriors for tests at the lower level. He said that day-care chemotherapy centers have also been started in 8 district hospitals of the state. Apart from this, there are plans to set up such centers in other districts of the state as well.
