Surat (The Uttam Hindu): A particularly painful and shameful incident has come to light from Surat, Gujarat. At the de-addiction center where people leave their loved ones in the hope of a new life, the protectors themselves turned predators. A 32-year-old patient who came for treatment was brutally beaten by hospital staff to the point where he died in agony. This horrific incident has sent shockwaves throughout the city and raised serious questions about the safety of these centers operating in the name of healthcare.
Just because of this small thing, the limits of brutality were crossed
According to official police information, this horrific incident occurred at the Rewa Addiction De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center in the Dumas area. The deceased, identified as 32-year-old Dhawal Rathod, was admitted to the rehab center on February 28th of this year for drug addiction. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Shweta Daniel stated that when Dhawal refused to take the medication provided at the center, the staff became enraged. The situation escalated to the point where they began brutally beating him with sticks. Following the repeated beatings, his condition became critical on the night of March 1st. In a panic, he was rushed to the New Civil Hospital by ambulance number 108, where doctors declared him dead.
Horrifying secret revealed in post-mortem, four accused arrested
Initially, an attempt was made to present it as a natural death, but when the police examined Dhawal's body, the horrific injuries on his body revealed evidence of murder. Convinced, the body was immediately sent for a post-mortem examination. The post-mortem report revealed the horrific truth: Dhawal's death was caused by fatal blows to his head, waist, and other parts of the body with sticks.
The police then swung into action and rigorously interrogated other patients and staff at the de-addiction center, exposing the entire conspiracy. Acting swiftly, the police arrested four accused in this brutal murder case, and a case has been filed against them under murder and other serious charges. The arrested killers include Jignesh Desai, Rohan Sanghani, Shailesh Vaghela, and Dilip Joshi. Surprisingly, these individuals were employed at the same center as counselors, ward boys, and drivers, responsible for treating the patients.
