Husband's joke turns fatal: Model's suicide sparks debate on words' deadly impact
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : A tragic and shocking incident has come to light from the Sahadatganj police station area of Lucknow. A 23-year-old woman studying modeling committed suicide by hanging herself in her own home. Preliminary investigations revealed that during a playful exchange between the couple, the husband called her a "monkey," which so deeply hurt her that she took the extreme step.
A love marriage four years ago, the future was full of dreams
Tanu Singh, a resident of the Lakad Mandi area of Sahadatganj, had a love marriage with Rahul Srivastava, a resident of Indiranagar (Takrohi), about four years ago. Rahul is an auto driver, while Tanu was training to pursue a career in modeling. According to family members, the couple had a normal married life and no major disputes had been reported previously.
A joking remark that turned into a serious incident is said to have taken place around 1:30 pm. At that time, there was a light atmosphere in the house. Tanu, her husband Rahul, elder sister and nephew were present together and were joking among themselves. During this, Rahul jokingly made a comment about Tanu, which she linked to her self-respect. The husband called his wife a 'monkey', which hurt her. It is being said that Tanu, who is sensitive about her looks and career, was deeply hurt by this and angrily went to another room.
Tanu locked herself in her room and took the suicidal step
Rahul, assuming she would recover, went out to get some food. Returning after about half an hour and receiving no response, he peeped through the window. The sight inside terrified him. Tanu was hanging from a noose made of cloth, supported by a ventilator.
Declared dead at the hospital, upon receiving news of the tragedy in the area, family members broke down the door, brought Tanu down, and immediately rushed her to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors declared her dead. Upon receiving information from the hospital, police arrived at the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
According to the Sahadatganj police station, the case prima facie appears to be a suicide. Police are also investigating whether there was any prior tension or dispute between the couple. This incident has shocked not only the family but the entire area. The death of a young woman with promising dreams has raised many questions.
