Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): Several major and historic decisions were taken in an important cabinet meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence at 5 Kalidas Marg on Monday. A total of 27 important proposals were approved in this meeting, held in the presence of both deputy CMs and cabinet ministers. While the government approved the historic proposal to rename Jalalabad tehsil in Shahjahanpur district, it also made several major announcements in the interest of investment, education, and animal husbandry in the state. However, no decision could be taken on an important proposal related to madrasa teachers in this meeting and it was postponed.

Jalalabad tehsil will now be called 'Lord Parshuram Puri', administrative process begins

One of the most prominent decisions taken at the cabinet meeting was the renaming of Jalalabad tehsil in Shahjahanpur district. The Yogi cabinet formally approved the proposal to rename Jalalabad tehsil as "Bhagwan Parshuram Puri." Following this government decision, the people of the area are experiencing tremendous enthusiasm. The government has now issued instructions to expedite revenue and administrative processes in this regard, so that the new name will soon be effective in government documents.

From Startup Policy 2026 to Livestock Insurance Scheme, 27 proposals cleared

After the meeting, IT and Electronics Minister Sunil Sharma announced that the establishment of a "Startup Mission" has been approved to promote youth and entrepreneurs in the state. The Cabinet also approved the "UP Startup Policy 2026" and "Data Center Policy 2026." The "Chief Minister's Risk Management and Livestock Insurance Scheme," introduced by the department of Livestock Development Minister Dharampal Singh, has also been approved. This scheme, which will be implemented in all 75 districts of the state, will provide direct insurance coverage to small and marginal farmers and livestock owners in the event of an epidemic, disability, or animal death. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the establishment of Maharishi Yogi International Agricultural University in Bilhaur, Kanpur, Thakur Yugraj Singh University in Fatehpur, and Ajay Kumar Garg University in Ghaziabad, as well as a proposal to increase the pension of the Chairman and members of the Public Service Commission.

Madrasa teachers' gratuity proposal put on hold, Cabinet defers decision

While the government approved 27 proposals, a key proposal related to madrasa teachers has been put on hold. The cabinet meeting agenda included 28 proposals, with the proposal regarding madrasa teachers' gratuity listed at serial number 15. After discussion, the cabinet decided to postpone this proposal, not approving it at the current meeting. No final decision has been taken by the government on this matter, and it has been put on hold for the future.

CM Yogi pays tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, mentions Article 370

On the sidelines of the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at an event in Lucknow to mark his birth anniversary. In his address, CM Yogi said that Dr. Mukherjee strongly advocated for the integrity and unity of the country, opposing "two constitutions, two heads, and two flags in one country" and making the supreme sacrifice in Kashmir in 1953. He said that Dr. Mukherjee's dream against the appeasement policy of the then Nehru government and Article 370 has been fulfilled under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 by abolishing Article 370 and implementing the Constitution.
