A mentally disturbed man living in an abandoned Scorpio car in Jabalpur's Sihora area died in a fire likely caused by a mosquito-repelling incense stick. The fire also damaged a nearby hut and shop

Jabalpur (The Uttam Hindu): A very painful and hair-raising accident has come to light on Saturday morning in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Here, a fierce fire suddenly broke out in an old Scorpio car parked on the roadside, in which a young man died a painful death after being badly burnt. People who had gone for morning walk early in the morning were terrified when they heard someone's screaming and shouting from inside the burning car. This horrific incident happened in ward number 3 of Sihora police station area, about 40 km away from the district headquarters, where a small incense stick lit to drive away mosquitoes took a life in the blink of an eye.
He had made a junk car his home for 15 years
According to preliminary police investigations and information gathered from local residents, the deceased youth was mentally disturbed and had been living in this old, abandoned Scorpio car for the past 10 to 15 years. He would spend the day collecting garbage, plastic, and plastic sheets from the surrounding area and storing them inside the car. It is reported that he would sleep inside the car with incense burning at night to ward off mosquitoes, which ultimately led to his tragic death.
A fire broke out due to garbage, engulfing a hut and a shop
When people saw smoke and flames rising from the car around 6 am on Saturday, the fire department and police were immediately informed. The car was filled with a large amount of flammable paper, sheets and plastic waste, due to which the spark from the incense stick took a monstrous form within a few minutes. The fire was so fierce that it also engulfed a nearby hut and a small shop, causing great panic in the area. The fire spread so rapidly that the young man trapped inside the car did not even get a chance to get out.
Fire brigade brought the body under control, police engaged in identification
Upon receiving the information, fire engines and police teams arrived at the scene. After considerable effort, firefighters brought the massive fire under control. However, by the time the fire was completely extinguished, the Scorpio had been reduced to ashes and the young man inside had died. Sihora Police Station in-charge Pratiksha Marco stated regarding the incident that prima facie, this tragic accident appears to have been caused by a fire caused by an incense stick lit to repel mosquitoes. Police have currently inspected the scene and are attempting to officially identify the deceased youth by questioning nearby residents.
