Patna civil court evacuated after bomb threat email, investigation underway

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): Bihar's judicial system and security agencies were thrown into a tizzy when a bomb threat was received against civil courts in several districts, including the capital Patna. The threat, sent via email by unknown miscreants, claimed to have planted RDX and IEDs in the court premises. Immediately after receiving the threat, the administration took swift action and evacuated the court premises in Patna, Danapur, Gaya, and Kishanganj.
As soon as the bomb threat was received at the civil court in Patna, panic descended. The District Judge issued an immediate order directing all DBA members, lawyers, and plaintiffs and defendants to vacate the court premises. The order clarified that an email had threatened to blow up the court using three RDX-IEDs. Upon receiving the information, police from Pirbahor police station and a dog squad arrived at the scene and began conducting thorough searches. Similarly, the Danapur Civil Court was also evacuated, bringing court proceedings to a complete halt.
Meanwhile, the Gaya Civil Court (Gayaji) and Kishanganj Civil Court have also received similar threatening emails. Following the threat received on the official email address of the District Judge in Gaya, the District Magistrate and SSP personally visited the site and inspected security. The entire premises there have also been evacuated and an intensive investigation is underway.
The police administration in Kishanganj is also on full alert. Superintendent of Police Sagar Kumar stated that preliminary investigations indicate the threatening email originated in Tamil Nadu. Special police teams are thoroughly searching every corner of the court building and security has been increased, although no suspicious items have been recovered. The police are taking this incident of simultaneous targeting of several major courts in the state seriously and are working with the cyber cell to identify the sender of the email.
