CM N Chandrababu Naidu announces Amaravati as the sole capital, ending years of uncertainty. The move is seen as a boost to development and investment in the state

Amaravati (The Uttam Hindu): The long-awaited wait of the people of Andhra Pradesh for their permanent capital has finally ended. Amaravati has now officially been declared the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh. State Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan shared information about this historic decision on the social media platform 'X'. CM Naidu proudly clarified while sharing the official notification, "The capital of Andhra Pradesh is Amaravati." Let us tell you that recently during the budget session of Parliament, the 'Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act Amendment Bill 2026' was passed with a huge majority in both the houses, after which this path has been completely cleared.
'A long-standing dream has come true', CM Naidu expresses gratitude to the President and PM Modi
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his happiness at this historic and emotional moment and specially thanked the President and Prime Minister of the country. He wrote on X that on behalf of the millions of people of Andhra Pradesh, he expresses his heartfelt gratitude to President Draupadi Murmu for giving her final approval to this Amendment Act, 2026. Naidu said that with this approval, the long-cherished dream of having our own capital has now become a reality. He also expressed special gratitude to the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that they have kept their promise to the state and consistently provided sound guidance.
The confusion of the capital is over, a decisive step towards development
This major success of the TDP-NDA government led by CM Naidu is being considered a major milestone for the future of Amaravati and a bright future for the state. It is noteworthy that when Andhra Pradesh was split from Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu himself had formulated a grand plan to make Amaravati the new administrative, cultural, and political center of the state. Due to the change of power and other reasons, confusion arose regarding the capital, but now it is completely clear that the state will have only one capital, not three, and that will be Amaravati. This decision has not only brought administrative clarity to the state, but is also being considered a crucial step towards investment and development.
