Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Famous stunt artist SM Raju has died at the age of 52. He was shooting a stunt scene for director Pa. Ranjit's upcoming film 'Vettuvan'. The hero of the film is Arya.

Tamil actor Vishal shared a post on Instagram in which he told about Raju's tragic demise. He wrote in his post, "It is very difficult to understand that stunt artist Raju died this morning while performing a stunt (car overturning scene) for Arya and Ranjit's film." The actor said that he knew Raju for many years. Raju had done very dangerous stunts many times in his films. He further wrote in his post, "My deepest condolences. May his soul rest in peace. May God give strength to his family to bear this time of grief. I will always stand by his family to help, because we both are from the same film industry and Raju has made an important contribution to many films. I will support him wholeheartedly and considering it my duty. May God bless him."

A video is going viral on social media, which is just minutes before the tragic incident. In the video, late Raju can be seen driving at a high speed; the car overturns, following which the crew members rush to the car and pull Raju out. According to reports, stuntman Raju suffered chest pain and was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Nagapattinam for treatment, but doctors declared him dead there. Popular stunt choreographer Silva expressed his condolences on Instagram and wrote, "Our finest car jumping stunt artist SM Raju passed away today while performing car stunts. May his soul rest in peace. Our stunt union and Indian film industry will miss him a lot." Actor Arya and P. Ranjith are yet to make any statement about the accident.
