Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): NCP Legislature Party leader and wife of late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Sunetra Pawar, has been sworn in as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra at Lok Bhavan. NCP leaders present at Lok Bhavan raised slogans of 'Ajit Dada Amar Rahe' as Sunetra Pawar, leader of the NCP Legislature Party and wife of late Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, took oath as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra. Sunetra Pawar has become the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

Earlier, after Sunetra Pawar, wife of the late Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Rajya Sabha MP, was elected leader of the NCP legislative party, party leaders met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. NCP leader Anil Bhaidas Patil said, "The most important thing is that we first have to decide with our party workers and all the MLAs how to convince Sunetra Pawar."

He said that the blow is so severe that it will be nearly impossible for Sunetra Pawar to recover. However, we are trying to hand over the leadership of the party to someone else. We believe that Sunetra Pawar can take on this responsibility at this time, as local body elections are also coming soon. Ajit Pawar was touring to ensure the victory of all the candidates he fielded in the elections. After Ajit Pawar's death, the responsibility of managing the candidates will now fall on Sunetra Pawar.

MLA Sana Malik said that if anyone could have been immediately accepted into the party after Ajit Pawar, it would be Sunetra Pawar. She had been personally involved with the party workers for the past two years.

Regarding discussions about a merger with Sharad Pawar's party, Anil Bhaidas Patil said that Dada was making efforts regarding a potential merger, and some of us were aware of it. Discussions were taking place between some leaders, and videos were circulating showing leaders close to Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar talking. However, after Ajit Pawar's death, no one will answer what issues, alliances, and mergers were discussed during the meeting.
