Tragedy Strikes Pavagadh: 6 Killed in Ropeway Accident at Temple Construction Site

Panchmahal (The Uttam Hindu): A major tragic accident took place on Saturday at the famous Pavagadh Shaktipeeth located in Panchmahal district of Gujarat. A cargo ropeway carrying material for the ongoing construction work in the temple broke down and fell down, killing six people including two lift operators. Four other people are also reported to be injured in the accident.

Accident happened at 3:30 pm

According to the information, this accident happened at around 3:30 pm on Saturday. The ropeway was carrying construction material and was going towards the temple on the hill, when according to preliminary information, its rope broke and this accident happened. As soon as the incident was reported, the local police and fire brigade teams immediately reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. The injured were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital.

Administration confirmed 6 deaths.

Panchmahal DSP Dr. Harsh Dudhat has confirmed the death of six people in the accident. Meanwhile, Panchmahal DM said that the dead include two liftmen, two labourers and two other people. All senior officials of the administration are present at the spot and are monitoring the rescue operation.

The district administration has launched an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident to find out whether the accident was due to some technical fault or negligence.
