Wife's web of deceit: Strangles husband, stages fake hanging but feet give away cruel plot

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : The suspicious body of a young man, discovered on January 26th in the Kailashpuram Colony of Bareilly's Izzatnagar police station area, has now become a sensational murder mystery. Initially, it was considered a case of suicide, but the case took a new turn when the post-mortem report confirmed strangulation.
Following an investigation, police arrested deceased Jitendra Yadav's wife, Jyoti, her father, Kalicharan, and her mother, Chameli. Police interrogation revealed that Jyoti strangled her husband to death following a dispute over losing money in online gambling. Then, in connivance with her parents, she hung the body with a muffler to make it appear to be a suicide.
The condition of the body revealed the mystery
Police arrived at the scene and found the situation suspicious from the outset. Jitendra's body was hanging from a ventilator, but his feet were resting on a stool below. His tongue was also protruding. The forensic team concluded that these circumstances were incompatible with suicide.
An examination of the call detail records (CDRs) also revealed that immediately after the incident, Jyoti contacted her parents instead of informing the police or her in-laws. This piqued police suspicion, and under rigorous interrogation, Jyoti confessed to the murder.
Dispute increased after love marriage
Investigation also revealed that Jitendra and Jyoti had a love marriage on 25 November 2025. It is being told that Jitendra had waited for about nine years for this relationship. The family members allege that Jyoti, working as a conductor in roadways, was pressurizing Jitendra since the marriage to sell the ancestral property and buy a house and a car in her name. If the demand was not met, she also threatened to implicate him in a dowry harassment case. On 26 January, a dispute over losing about 20 thousand rupees in online gambling finally turned into murder.
Police Action:
Under the direction of SSP Anurag Arya, the Izzatnagar police conducted a thorough investigation. Initially, an FIR was filed for abetment to suicide, but later upgraded to murder charges. On January 31st, based on information from an informant, the police arrested the three accused. According to CO Third, Pankaj Srivastava, the accused had attempted to mislead the police by hanging the body. On court orders, all three accused have been sent to jail in judicial custody.
