CM Yogi Adityanath Announces Rs 50 Crore Corpus Fund for Judicial Service Association

Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the goal of good governance can be achieved only when our judicial system is smooth, quick and accessible. He said that to realize the resolution of a developed India, it is necessary to create a developed Uttar Pradesh and for this a strong and quick judicial system is essential.
Chief Minister Yogi was addressing the 42nd session of the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service Association on Saturday. Addressing the judicial officers at this grand conference held in Lucknow, CM Yogi described the judiciary as the protector of good governance and said that the Uttar Pradesh government is committed to its strengthening. On this occasion, the CM also unveiled the souvenir of the association. During this, CM Yogi also announced a corpus fund of Rs 50 crore for the Judicial Service Association. Describing the 42nd session of the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service Association as 'Mahakumbh of Judicial Officers', Chief Minister Yogi said that this event is not only a symbol of unity and mutual cooperation, but is also a platform to promote professional efficiency and best practice. Welcoming all the present judges, retired judges and judicial officers from across the state on this occasion, the CM said that this session was held at a time when India has entered the Amrit Mahotsav year of its Constitution.
The CM said that the basic theme of the Constitution 'justice, freedom and fraternity' is the basis of this event. Referring to the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj, he said that just as the Maha Kumbh is a symbol of spiritual and cultural unity, in the same way this convention displays the unity of judicial officers and their professional efficiency.
The Chief Minister said with pride that Uttar Pradesh has the largest High Court of the country. The main bench of Allahabad High Court in Prayagraj and its bench in Lucknow is a matter of pride for the state. It plays an important role in presenting the image of Uttar Pradesh as a place of trust not only for us but also in the country and the world.
He said that in its history of 102 years, Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service Association has achieved many milestones and I am confident that all the judicial officers present here are not only associated with the judicial service but will also succeed in presenting a unique example of mutual cooperation, unity and professional efficiency.
CM Yogi stressed that the goal of good governance can be achieved only when the judicial system is timely, affordable and accessible. He informed that 72 lakh cases were disposed of in the district and trial courts in the year 2024, which is a major achievement. However, he also admitted that more than 1.15 crore cases are still pending, which is a challenge. The CM mentioned the implementation of new criminal laws, Indian Judicial Code, Indian Civil Protection Code and Indian Evidence Act, which came into effect from July 1, 2024.
He said that despite initial apprehensions, the judicial officers implemented them promptly, proving that these laws were not based on punishment but focused on a strong system of justice. The Chief Minister mentioned in detail the efforts made by the Yogi government to strengthen the judicial system. He informed that the government has sanctioned a huge amount of money for residential and other facilities for the High Court.
These include Rs 62.41 crore for construction of residences for the statues of justices of the High Court at Prayagraj, Rs 117 crore for the Lucknow Bench, Rs 99 crore for officers and staff of the High Court, in-principle approval for 896 residential units at Prayagraj, Rs 112.06 crore for construction of commercial block, and administrative and financial approval of Rs 44.91 crore for maintenance of heritage building of Allahabad High Court.
Apart from this, the government has sanctioned Rs 1,645 crore for setting up integrated court complexes in 10 districts, out of which work has started in 6 districts. Referring to the government's zero tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children, the CM said that 381 POCSO and fast-track courts have been set up. Apart from this, an amount of Rs 148 crore has been released in 2023-24, Rs 239 crore in 2024-25 and more than Rs 75 crore in 2025-26 for construction of court rooms and residential areas with the support of the central government.
