Brisbane(The Uttam Hindu): The highly anticipated 5th T20I match between India and Australia was abandoned due to heavy rain and lightning at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday. India, who were leading the series 2-1, were awarded the series victory as a result.

India's openers, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, had given their team a strong start, putting up an unbeaten 52-run partnership in 4.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma remained unbeaten on 23 off 13 balls, while Shubman Gill scored 29 off 16 deliveries.

Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Series for his impressive performance, scoring 163 runs in the series. India's captain, Suryakumar Yadav, expressed satisfaction with his team's overall performance, highlighting their strong batting and bowling efforts throughout the series.

The win marks India's fourth consecutive bilateral T20I series victory over Australia, showcasing their dominance in the format.
