AI Miracle: Woman Regains Voice Lost 25 Years Ago Due to Motor Neuron Disease, Here's How!

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Artificial Intelligence (AI) has done such a miracle in the field of medical science, which was difficult to even think about a few years ago. 55-year-old Sarah Ezekiel has regained her voice which she lost 25 years ago with the help of AI. Sarah had completely lost her voice due to a serious disease called motor neuron, but now she is able to talk to her family in her own voice once again.
About 25 years ago, Sarah Ezekiel was diagnosed with motor neuron disease. This is a serious disease in which the nerves and muscles of the body gradually weaken and stop working. Due to this disease, the patient has great difficulty in speaking, swallowing and walking and eventually the voice is completely lost. This is what happened to Sarah and she was forced to live a silent life for the last 25 years.
The scientists used an old video clip obtained from Sarah's family in which she was talking to her daughter. From this clip, an audio sample of just eight seconds of Sarah's voice was extracted.
An advanced AI model was trained using this audio sample. The AI learned Sarah's voice tone, pitch, and her unique speaking style. Based on this training, the AI developed a synthetic voice that sounded exactly like Sarah Ezekiel's real 25-year-old voice.
Now Sara speaks with her eyes
Now Sara uses a cutting edge technology to talk. She types words on the computer by moving her pupils. After this, the AI system immediately speaks her written words in her own synthetic voice. In this way, after a long gap of 25 years, she is once again able to communicate with her family members in “her own voice”. This incident highlights the positive side of AI, which can prove to be a boon for humanity.
