Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The scope of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer limited to just reading, writing, or coding; it is now proving helpful in saving human lives as well. The latest case is related to Elon Musk's company xAI's chatbot 'Grok', which surprised everyone by saving the life of a 49-year-old man. A user on Reddit shared his experience and told how after the wrong diagnosis by the doctors, the correct advice of AI saved him from death.

According to the victim, he suddenly felt severe pain in his stomach. He went to the doctor for treatment, where after examination the doctor said it was a normal 'gas pain' and sent him home after giving some medicines. The man took the medicines, but instead of reducing the pain, it increased further. Worried, he asked Elon Musk's AI chatbot 'Grok' for information about his symptoms. Grok analyzed the symptoms and immediately warned him. The AI told him that this was not a normal pain, but could be a case of perforation or rupture of the appendix. The chatbot advised him to immediately go to the hospital and get a CT scan done.

Taking the AI's warning seriously, the man immediately returned to the hospital. He told doctors that his pain had become unbearable and insisted on a CT scan. When the scan results arrived, the doctors were astonished. The report confirmed that his appendix was severely inflamed and on the verge of bursting. Without delay, the doctors operated and removed the infected appendix, saving the man's life.

Interestingly, after the operation, when the man went to the doctor for a routine checkup, he didn't reveal that the AI had given him the correct advice. He lied to the doctor, saying his sister was a nurse and had suggested a CT scan, so as not to offend the doctor. However, experts have issued a warning following this incident. AI companies and the CEO of OpenAI have already stated that chatbots should not be considered a substitute for doctors. AI advice can prove dangerous if there are technical flaws, so medical advice should always be a priority.
