New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Indian government's cybersecurity agency, CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), has issued a "high-severity" security alert for millions of users of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers. The agency said that several dangerous vulnerabilities have been found in older versions of these browsers, which could be exploited by hackers to take control of your computer and steal sensitive data.

According to CERT-In, versions of Chrome older than 141.0.7390.54 on Linux and 141.0.7390.54/55 on Windows and macOS contain dangerous bugs. These include a heap buffer overflow in WebGPU and data leaks in tabs. These vulnerabilities could be exploited by a remote hacker, who could redirect you to a malicious website, run malicious code on your system, and access your personal information.

Similarly, serious security flaws have been found in Mozilla Firefox versions older than 143.0.3 and below 143.1 for iOS. These include improper cookie storage isolation and issues with the JavaScript engine. If a user clicks on an incorrect web link, hackers can gain control of the system and steal passwords and other sensitive data saved in the browser.

CERT-In has classified both these alerts as "high-risk." The government has advised users to immediately update their Chrome and Firefox browsers to the latest versions to avoid any threats. Both Google and Mozilla have released new security patches to fix these vulnerabilities.
