PIB foils Pakistan's deepfake plot: Exposes fake video of former army chief Manoj Pandey
The PIB Fact Check team exposed the video as AI-generated and urged people to verify information from official sources before sharing

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amidst the ongoing intense tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran, Pakistani social media accounts are continuously spewing venom against India. The neighboring country is hatching a major conspiracy to spread fake news and misleading information about the Indian Army. In this connection, a shocking video of former Army Chief General (Retired) Manoj Pandey is now going viral. However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has taken immediate action and exposed this vulgar propaganda of Pakistan.
PIB exposes Pakistani propaganda
The PIB Fact Check team has clarified that the video being widely shared on social media by Pakistani propaganda accounts is completely fake and was created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Sharing both the original and fake videos, PIB has appealed to the public that this is an AI-generated deepfake video and that the former Army Chief has not made any such controversial statement. This is a deliberate conspiracy against India, aimed at misleading the people of the country and undermining their unwavering trust in the Indian Army. PIB has cautioned people to verify the veracity of any information from official sources before sharing it.
What was the dangerous claim made in the deepfake video?
This viral AI-generated fake video depicted a former Army Chief listing the disadvantages of supporting Israel. The video attributed to him spread the false claim that the Indian Army is being trained by Israeli instructors who teach soldiers that Muslims, Sikhs, Rengmas, and Kukis are not human. The fake video also made the misleading claim that the army is first stripped of humanity and then taught to commit atrocities. It also made the alarmist claim that if this continued, internal rebellion would erupt within the country.
Know the real truth behind the viral video
Contrary to this dangerous lie, the truth behind General (Retd.) Manoj Pandey's original video is completely different. In his original address, the former Army Chief discussed the nation's security challenges and future preparedness. He stated that the Army must not only confront current threats but also accurately anticipate future challenges. He emphasized the need to develop our capabilities to effectively fight future battles and acquire new generation modern capabilities. The original video made no comments against any religion or country.
