Tokyo (The Uttam Hindu): Tech giant Google has suffered a major setback in Japan. A Tokyo court has banned Google's popular Pixel 7 series in Japan in a patent infringement case. Due to this ban, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones will no longer be sold in Japan. Along with this, Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series are also at risk of being banned.

This action has been taken after a lawsuit filed by South Korean company Pantech. Pantech had alleged that Google has violated a patent related to its 4G LTE network technology. The company claims that Google has used one of its key technologies in Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro without a license, which is helpful in sending 4G network data correctly in the phone.

The Tokyo District Court upheld Pantech's claim and ruled that Google had violated Japanese patent law. The court not only banned the commercial sale of the Pixel 7 series, but also banned its promotion, import, transfer, and public display.

After this decision of the court, Google's troubles may increase further, as Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series are also likely to be banned in Japan. The court has strongly criticized this attitude of the American tech company. The decision of immediate ban instead of fine reflects the policy of considering dishonesty as a serious crime in Japan.
