'Silent Hunter' Subs and 'Rampage' Missiles: India's Powerful Defense Combo Raises Alarm Among Foes

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian government has given the green signal to two big defense deals to take the country's military power to a new height. Under this, 6 ultra-modern submarines will be built for the Indian Navy with the cooperation of Germany at a cost of Rs 70 thousand crores, while the Air Force will be equipped with Israel's deadly 'Rampage' air-to-ground missiles.
6 submarines will be built under 'Project 75 India'
The Defence Ministry has given its approval to Mazagon Dockyards Limited (MDL) to start negotiations with Germany for the construction of 6 advanced submarines under the Navy's ambitious 'Project 75 India'. This deal could be worth around Rs 70 thousand crores.
Defense officials said that the process will be formally started between the Defense Ministry and MDL by the end of this month. It is expected that within the next 6 months all the terms of the deal will be discussed and final approval will be given. The biggest feature of these submarines will be their Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system, which will give them the ability to stay underwater for a long time. The main objective of this project is to achieve self-reliance in the design and construction of conventional submarines in the country.
Air Force will get 'Rampage' missiles
Under the second big deal, the Indian government is going to buy a large consignment of 'Rampage' air-to-ground missiles from Israel. According to sources, the order for this purchase will be given soon under the fast-track process.
The 'Rampage' missiles are known for their accuracy and are capable of destroying enemy bunkers and headquarters from long distances. According to reports, these missiles were used to carry out precision attacks on terrorist hideouts in Muridke and Bahawalpur in Pakistan. The inclusion of these missiles in the Indian Air Force fleet will greatly increase its striking power.
