New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Tesla has drawn attention with its next-generation Roadster sports car, which is being developed with advanced thruster technology in collaboration with SpaceX engineers. During a demonstration at SpaceX’s rocket testing facility in Texas, the vehicle was shown jumping from a ramp, performing aerial manoeuvres and landing. However, claims about its flying capabilities and performance have not been independently verified.

The Roadster is expected to feature three modes: Performance, Thrust and Rocket. Tesla claims the Performance version can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 1.6 seconds, while the thrust-equipped version could achieve the same speed in under a second. The company has also claimed a top speed exceeding 370 kmph and a driving range of more than 483 km. The proposed thruster system would use high-pressure gas to provide additional thrust and control although its practical application raises significant questions about safety, stability and regulatory approval.

Tesla first unveiled the second-generation Roadster prototype in November 2017 but its production timeline has been delayed several times. The company is now targeting 2028 for production. The vehicle has generated renewed interest in electric supercars but its final specifications, launch schedule and claimed airborne capabilities remain subject to confirmation.
