Parents to get more control as WhatsApp plans accounts for users under 13.
WhatsApp plans a feature allowing parents to control accounts of children under 13. 📱👨👩👧

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature focused on children’s online safety. The platform is reportedly developing “Parent Managed Accounts,” designed especially for users under the age of 13.
Under this system, a child’s account will be linked to a parent’s account, allowing parents to monitor activities and manage safety settings. Parents will be able to control who can message their child, who can be added to contacts, and which groups the child can join, helping protect them from unknown users.
The feature may also limit certain advanced options such as status updates, channels, and some AI-related tools. Messages from unknown people could be filtered into a separate folder so parents can review and block suspicious contacts if needed. The feature is expected to be rolled out gradually in different countries in the coming months.
