Rajya Sabha Speculations Put to Rest: Arvind Kejriwal Rules Out Nomination

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The results of the by-elections held recently on five assembly seats in four states were declared today. In these results, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) performed brilliantly and won two out of five seats. After the victory, the party's national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference. During this, he expressed gratitude to the public for showing faith in him. Kejriwal said, "We are grateful to the public for the trust they have shown in us. We have won both these seats by a big margin. This time our victory margin is almost double compared to last time."
AAP has registered this victory in Visavadar assembly seat in Gujarat and Ludhiana West assembly seat in Punjab. On this occasion, Kejriwal congratulated the party's winning candidates, Sanjeev Arora and Gopal Italia. Along with this, he also thanked the people of these areas.
In response to a question, Kejriwal clarified that he will not go to the Rajya Sabha. He said that the decision on the candidate for the Rajya Sabha will be taken by the party's political affairs committee.
Speaking on the Punjab by-election results, Kejriwal said that this is a big sign that the people of Punjab are happy with the functioning of our government. He termed this victory as the semi-final of the 2027 assembly elections and said that the people of Punjab have put their stamp of approval on the AAP government. Apart from this, he also mentioned the party's victory in Visavadar, Gujarat, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power. He said that in Visavadar too, the people have made AAP win with a good margin.
Kejriwal also expressed his views on the political scenario of Gujarat. He said that in Gujarat, BJP fights elections using power, money, administration and every kind of trickery, so it is not easy to win against them. However, the double margin victory of Aam Aadmi Party in Visavadar shows that now the people are fed up with the 30 years of rule of BJP and want change. He claimed that Gujarat is now on the path of change.
Citing figures from the last assembly elections, the former Delhi chief minister said the Congress had won 17 seats in Gujarat while the AAP had won 5. He said the main contest in Gujarat now was between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party. Citing the example of the recent by-elections, he said elections were held on two seats, one of which was won by the BJP and the other by the Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal accused the Congress of helping the BJP in the Delhi and Visavadar by-elections, and called the Congress a "puppet" of the BJP.
