Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): Subhaspa MLA Abbas Ansari's membership from Mau in Uttar Pradesh has ended after he was sentenced in the hate speech case. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana has officially declared his seat vacant on Sunday. To complete this process, the Assembly Secretariat was opened even on a holiday on Sunday. Along with this, information about this decision has also been sent to the Election Commission. Now all eyes are on the by-election to be held on this assembly seat.

It is worth noting that the verdict came on Saturday in the case of giving hate speech and violating the election code of conduct during the last assembly elections. Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Dr. KP Singh had fixed May 31 as the date for the verdict after hearing the arguments of all the parties in this case. After the hearing, the court found Abbas Ansari guilty of violating the code of conduct and sentenced him to two years imprisonment. Apart from this, a total fine of eleven thousand rupees has also been imposed under various sections.

According to the information received, this case is related to the city Kotwali area. According to the prosecution, an FIR was registered in this regard in the city Kotwali on the complaint of SI Gangaram Bind. Sadar MLA Abbas Ansari and other persons were made accused in this FIR.

It was alleged that on March 3, 2022, during the assembly elections, Abbas Ansari, who was contesting as a Subhaspa candidate from Sadar assembly seat, gave a hate speech in a public meeting. During this public meeting held at Paharpur ground in the city, he allegedly threatened the Mau administration to settle accounts and teach them a lesson after the elections.

Abbas Ansari's associate Mansoor Ansari has also been sentenced in this case. He has been sentenced to six months imprisonment and fined one thousand rupees under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

After the hearing, the court convicted Abbas Ansari in the case of violation of the code of conduct and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of Rs 11 has also been imposed under different sections.

According to the information, the case is from the city Kotwali area. According to the prosecution in the case, an FIR was registered in the city Kotwali on the complaint of SI Gangaram Bind. In this, Sadar MLA Abbas Ansari and others were made accused.

It was alleged that Abbas Ansari, who was contesting as a Subhaspa candidate from Sadar assembly seat, gave a hate speech during the assembly elections on March 3, 2022. During the public meeting at Paharpur ground in the city, it was said that the Mau administration was threatened from the stage to settle accounts after the elections and teach them a lesson after that.

Abbas's partner Mansoor Ansari has also been sentenced in this case. Under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code, he has been sentenced to six months' imprisonment and fined Rs 1,000.
