AI-Generated Video of PM Modi and Late Mother Sparks Political Row; FIR Against Congress Leaders

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – A major political controversy has erupted after an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother Heeraben Modi was shared on social media. Following a complaint by the Delhi BJP, the Delhi Police has registered an FIR against leaders linked to the Congress party and the Bihar Congress IT cell.

The BJP has termed the video not only an attack on the Prime Minister’s dignity but also an insult to motherhood.

The controversy began on September 10, 2025, at 6:12 pm, when the official ‘X’ handle of INC Bihar posted the video. According to Delhi BJP’s election cell convenor Sanket Gupta, the video was a “fake, AI-generated” creation that misrepresented the images of PM Modi and his late mother. The video allegedly showed Heeraben Modi criticizing her son’s politics, captioned: “Sahab ke sapno mein aayi maa” (Mother appeared in Saheb’s dreams).

The BJP strongly objected, calling the act “shameful” and the “lowest point in politics.” The complaint further stated that the video was an affront to women’s dignity and motherhood. The party also alleged that similar derogatory remarks against PM Modi and his mother were made earlier during a Congress-RJD rally in Darbhanga, Bihar, on August 27–28.

Taking note of the seriousness, the North Avenue Police Station in Delhi has registered an FIR under multiple stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 318(2), 336(3)(4), 340(2), 352, 356(2), and 61(2), along with relevant provisions of the IT Act and the Digital Data Protection Act.
