Opposition Fields Former Judge B. Sudarshan Reddy for Vice President Amid Lack of Consensus

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India Alliance has announced the name of the candidate for the post of Vice President. In the meeting held at the residence of the Congress President, the name of retired Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy was approved. After the meeting, Kharge announced the name of the candidate in a press conference. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the opposition has unanimously agreed on the name of the former Supreme Court judge.
Earlier, the leaders of the opposition alliance 'India' had a meeting at 10 Rajaji Marg to decide and announce the name of the candidate for the post of Vice President. After the meeting, the opposition announced his name. Former Supreme Court judge Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy will file his nomination on August 21.
The government tried to build a consensus on the name of the Vice President, but things did not work out. The NDA had announced the name of CP Radhakrishnan two days ago. After this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was given the responsibility of talking to all the parties.
