No Relief Yet for Bikram Majithia in Disproportionate Assets Case — Judicial Custody Extended by 14 Days

Mohali(The Uttam Hindu): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, arrested in a disproportionate assets case, will remain behind bars for now. A Mohali court has extended his judicial custody by another 14 days.
Majithia appeared before the court on Thursday at around 12:30 PM via video conferencing. Following the hearing, the court announced the extension. However, the day remains crucial for the veteran politician as the hearing on his bail plea is also scheduled for later this afternoon, after the lunch break.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had arrested Majithia on June 25 from his residence in Amritsar in connection with the assets case. Since then, he has been in judicial custody. All eyes are now on the court’s decision regarding his bail plea, which could determine his immediate political and personal future.
