New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the shocking attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Central Government has taken a major step regarding her safety. Sources reveal that the Centre has approved Z-category security for CM Rekha Gupta, which will be handled by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The decision came after the assault on the Chief Minister during a weekly public hearing on Wednesday, which raised serious questions about her security in the national capital. Following this, the Ministry of Home Affairs immediately moved to enhance her security cover.

Meanwhile, the attacker Rajesh Khimji, who assaulted the CM, has been arrested by Delhi Police and produced before a magistrate. Instead of the Tis Hazari Court complex during daytime, he was taken late at night to a magistrate’s residence in Dwarka due to security concerns. The court granted a 5-day police remand.

Police will now interrogate the accused to uncover the motive behind the attack and investigate whether there is a larger conspiracy involved. The incident has triggered widespread debate on the safety of political leaders in the capital.
