India expelled Danish from the country on May 13 for allegedly being involved in espionage.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau and military intelligence officials have also questioned Malhotra. The investigation revealed that she had visited Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia and some other countries. The police had said that the Pakistani intelligence agency was developing Malhotra as an 'asset'. It was also reported that she was in contact with Danish during the four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22. During the investigation, the police have found deleted chats from Jyoti Malhotra's laptop and mobile. Earlier, the police had sent her three mobile phones and a laptop for forensic examination.
