New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has sternly warned Pakistan to be ready to face the consequences if it is provoked again. Misri was commenting on "referred to as escalating tensions between India and Pakistan" and said the reason for the tension between the two countries was the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent people, mostly tourists, were killed. This cowardly attack was carried out by terrorists who were found to have links with neighbouring Pakistan.

Vikram Misri said, "A lot of misinformation is being spread against us from across the border... There are some things that I would like you to keep in mind. In which the first thing is mentioned about the increase in tension at all places, so the first thing you have to keep in mind is that the Pahalgam attack is the root of the original tension and the Indian armed forces responded to it through their action and attacked the terrorist bases." From Pakistan's side, the Gurudwara in Jammu and Kashmir was targeted and the Sikh community was attacked. If Pakistan attacks again, it will get a befitting reply. Pakistan is constantly provoking India and we are responding to it. If Pakistan attacks India again, it will face the consequences.

On Pakistan's propaganda that it shot down Indian planes, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, "...there is nothing surprising in this. After all, this is a country that started lying from its birth itself. When the Pakistani army claimed Jammu and Kashmir in 1947, they lied not to some stranger but to the United Nations that we have nothing to do with it... So this journey started 75 years ago..."
