India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri Sets the Record Straight on Ceasefire, Nuclear Threats and Turkey Relations

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Monday briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs on Operation Sindoor and the recent tension between India and Pakistan. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told the Parliamentary Committee that America has no role in the ceasefire between the two countries. This ceasefire has happened after talks between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan. This information was given in the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee.
According to reports, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told the parliamentary committee on Monday that the US had no role in bringing about a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He said that the decision to stop military action was taken at a bilateral level between the two countries (India-Pakistan). The Foreign Secretary refuted the claims and said that there was no third party involvement in the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Rather, this agreement has been reached after talks between the DGMOs. In fact, US President Donald Trump wrote on social media platforms on May 10 that after a long conversation under the mediation of the US, I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries for using common sense and intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter! '
Apart from this, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also reiterated that the conflict between India and Pakistan remained within the limits of conventional war and there was no evidence of any kind of nuclear attack or indication from Islamabad. According to reports, in the same meeting, Foreign Secretary Misri also said that the recent conflict between India and Pakistan was a 'conventional war' and the weapons received from China did not have any significant impact in it. He clearly said, 'It does not matter to us that they had installed the Chinese HQ-9 missile defense system, because we made a direct and big attack on their airbase.
Talking about relations with Turkey, Misri said, "We have never had bad relations with Turkey, but we have never been close partners either. There is no mention of trade in any conflict with Turkey." The Standing Committee of Parliament on Monday unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning the cyber attack on Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and his family. The committee termed this cyber attack as unacceptable and malicious.
He said, "The terrorists declared by the United Nations are roaming freely in Pakistan and continuously incite violence against India. The investigation of the Pahalgam attack has revealed that the terrorists had contacted their masters sitting in Pakistan. Pakistan's past record as a safe haven for terrorism is well known, which is based on solid facts and evidence." In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist hideouts across the border. Due to India's retaliation, there was tension between India and Pakistan for several days. A ceasefire was announced between the two sides on May 10.
