New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Passengers on board an Indigo flight from Delhi to Imphal experienced tense moments on Thursday morning when the aircraft, after spending nearly an hour in the air, was forced to return due to a technical glitch.

According to Indigo’s official statement, flight 6E-5118, which was scheduled to take off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10:25 AM, departed with a slight delay at 10:34 AM. About an hour after takeoff, the pilots detected a minor technical fault and, as a precaution, decided to return to Delhi.

The Airbus A321 safely landed back at IGI Airport, where mandatory inspections were carried out. After checks, the flight resumed its journey. While the airline didn’t reveal the exact nature of the snag, passengers reportedly panicked when the aircraft suddenly turned back mid-air.

Interestingly, this incident comes just a day after another Indigo flight, 6E-6271, traveling from Delhi to Goa, faced an engine failure on July 16, 2025. That flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai, with pilots acting swiftly to ensure passenger safety. With two technical issues in two consecutive days, questions are being raised about the airline’s maintenance protocols. Indigo has apologized for the inconvenience caused to travelers and assured thorough safety checks.
