Beijing(The Uttam Hindu): At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar delivered a stern warning to both Pakistan and China over their stance on terrorism. He asserted that India will never tolerate terrorism and will continue to take strict actions against terrorist networks and their supporters.

Directly criticizing Pakistan and indirectly cautioning China, Jaishankar emphasized that supporting terrorist forces cannot serve anyone’s interests. Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, he justified India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a legitimate response to protect its national security and sovereignty.

Following India’s sharp statement, Pakistan’s tone shifted noticeably. Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar adopted a softer stance, claiming that Pakistan supports regional peace and stability. He stressed that all multilateral cooperation must be based on mutual respect, sovereign equality, and regional integrity.

Calling on the SCO to stay true to its founding principles of combating terrorism, extremism, and separatism, Jaishankar urged the organization not to deviate from its core mission. He highlighted how the Pahalgam attack aimed to damage Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism economy and fuel communal divisions.

Jaishankar warned that India will respond firmly to any future attacks and reaffirmed New Delhi’s commitment to bringing terrorists and their backers to justice, citing the United Nations Security Council’s strong condemnation of the recent attack.
