No Mercy: Two Terrorists Shot Dead by Indian Army While Trying to Infiltrate LoC in Gurez Sector of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday morning, killing two terrorists trying to cross into Indian territory.
Army-Peace Force Joint Operation
According to the Army’s Chinar Corps, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence input provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police. Troops deployed in the forward areas noticed suspicious movement near the LoC and challenged the infiltrators. The terrorists responded with indiscriminate firing, forcing the Army to retaliate strongly. In the ensuing gunfight, both terrorists were eliminated. Security forces have launched a search and sanitization operation in the area to rule out further threats.
Pattern of Infiltration Attempts
This fresh attempt comes just weeks after similar encounters in the region. Earlier this month, two terrorists were neutralized in Akhal area, while on July 30, the Army gunned down two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants in Poonch district. On the same day, the Army launched ‘Operation Shiv Shakti’, a coordinated offensive based on credible inputs from J&K Police and intelligence agencies, aimed at eliminating terrorists hiding in border areas.
No Compromise on Security
With yet another infiltration bid foiled, the Indian Army reaffirmed that no compromise will be made on the nation’s security and every attempt to breach the border will be dealt with a decisive response.
