New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident of violence unfolded at Delhi’s famous Kalkaji Temple, where a long-serving sevadaar was beaten to death following a quarrel over chunni prasad. Police confirmed on Saturday that the incident took place late Friday evening, leaving devotees and locals shaken.

The victim, identified as Yogendra Singh (35), had been serving at the temple for nearly 15 years. He hailed from Fattepur in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. According to police officials, the clash broke out around 9:30 pm, when a group of men confronted Singh after he allegedly refused to give them chunni prasad.

The situation escalated quickly. Enraged, the accused, identified as Atul Pandey (30), a resident of Dakshinpuri, Delhi, along with his associates, allegedly attacked Singh with sticks and fists. Singh sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Following a PCR call, police immediately reached the spot. An FIR (No. 515/25) has been registered under Sections 103(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). While Atul Pandey was caught on the spot by locals and handed over to police, other accused managed to flee. Efforts are underway to identify and nab the remaining suspects.

The incident has raised serious concerns about devotee management and security inside temples. Police have assured that strict action will be taken and investigations are ongoing.
