This year, the moon will be visible after 8 pm in most cities on Karwa Chauth. After moonrise, women should view the moon through a sieve and then break their fast by seeing their husbands.

Method of offering Arghya to the Moon on Karva Chauth:

First, prepare the puja plate – place a Kalash (water pot), a silver coin, rice grains, roli (rice flakes), a sieve, a flour lamp, and sweets in it. After moonrise, first view the moon through the sieve, then view your husband through the same sieve. Offer Arghya to the moon, show it the lamp, and offer sweets. After this, perform Aarti of the Moon and offer seven skewers.

Finally, break the fast by accepting water from your husband's hands.

Chant this mantra while offering prayers to the moon.

ॐ Sri Sri Chandramase Namah.

What to do if the moon is not visible?

Sometimes the moon is not visible due to clouds or bad weather. Don't panic—if the moon has already risen in other cities, meditate on the Moon at the scheduled moonrise time, offer prayers, and conclude the fast with a silent prayer.
