Lalu Yadavs Setback: High Court Rejects Plea in Land for Job Scam

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has received a big setback from the Delhi High Court on his plea seeking cancellation of the FIR lodged by the CBI in the land for job case. The High Court has rejected his petition. The court said in its decision that Lalu Yadav has the right to present his arguments before the trial court at the stage of considering the charge. The High Court also said that there is no valid reason to stop the court proceedings.

Lalu Yadav, in his petition, had sought quashing of the three charge sheets filed by the CBI in the case as well as the trial court orders taking cognizance of those charge sheets. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Lalu Yadav, had argued in the court that no prior permission was taken by the CBI to prosecute Lalu Prasad Yadav. It is worth noting that the trial court in this case is going to start the debate on framing of charges on June 2.
