IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert Across Multiple States as Monsoon Intensifies; Floods, Landslides Reported in Several Regions

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several states including Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. According to the forecast, Delhi skies will remain overcast for the next week, with chances of intermittent light showers.

Meanwhile, the relentless monsoon rains have triggered flood-like situations in many regions. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Karnataka (especially Shivamogga), West Bengal, and Gujarat have been hit by excessive rainfall. Himachal Pradesh remains one of the worst-affected states, with flash floods and landslides claiming over 105 lives so far.

Authorities have also issued landslide and cloudburst alerts in mountain states. Rivers across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand are swelling due to continuous downpours. In the next 24 hours, heavy rain is expected in West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya.
