PM Modi Gifts Holy Water, Ram Temple Replica to Kamla Bissessar, Recalling Her Bihar Roots

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago during his official visit. During the address, he referred to Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar as the “daughter of Bihar” and presented her with a special gift. The gift included holy water from the confluence of rivers at the Maha Kumbh, sacred water from the Saryu River, and a beautiful replica of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
PM Modi recalled Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s ancestral roots in Bihar and urged her to offer the holy water from the Maha Kumbh and Saryu River to the Ganga Dhara in Trinidad. He said, “The ancestors of Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamla Bissessar used to live in Buxar, Bihar. Kamla ji herself has visited the place. People consider her the daughter of Bihar.”
He added, “Earlier this year, the world’s largest spiritual gathering, the Maha Kumbh, took place. I am proud to have brought the holy water from the Maha Kumbh with me. I request Kamla ji to offer this sacred water from the Saryu and Maha Kumbh into the Ganga Dhara here.”
Kamla Persad-Bissessar also addressed the gathering of the Indian diaspora. She had previously visited her ancestral village, Bhelupur in Buxar district’s Itarhi block, back in 2012.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Trinidad and Tobago for his first official visit to the country. He was accorded a grand welcome at Piarco International Airport, where PM Kamla Bissessar, 38 ministers, and four members of parliament greeted him with a guard of honor. This visit is significant as it marks the first bilateral visit to Trinidad by an Indian Prime Minister since 1999, and it came at the invitation of Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
