Heavy Vehicle Entry Banned, Multiple Borders Sealed in Delhi-NCR — Authorities Tight-Lip on Reason

Noida (The Uttam Hindu): In a major security measure ahead of Independence Day celebrations in Delhi, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has announced a temporary ban on the entry of all heavy, medium, light goods vehicles and passenger buses into the capital. The restriction will be effective from 10 PM on August 14 until the conclusion of Independence Day events on August 15.
According to the police, all such vehicles attempting to enter Delhi via Chilla Border, DND Border, Kalindi Kunj Yamuna Border, Yamuna Expressway, and Pari Chowk will be diverted through the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to reach their destinations.
To minimise inconvenience, motorists can contact the Traffic Helpline at 9971009001.
Alongside Independence Day preparations, Noida Police has also intensified security for the upcoming Janmashtami festival. Under the directives of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, senior officers inspected ISKCON Temple and other key sites to ensure smooth crowd management.
Measures include dedicated parking arrangements, CCTV surveillance, public announcement systems, plainclothes policemen, dog squads, and anti-sabotage checks. In sensitive areas, foot patrols, vehicle checks, and heightened vigilance have been implemented.
PCR and PRV vans will remain on constant patrol to prevent any untoward incidents, ensuring that both Independence Day and Janmashtami are celebrated peacefully and securely across the region.
