New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Lok Sabha, revealing the details of “Operation Sindoor,” a high-stakes military mission carried out by the Indian Army in response to a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Singh praised the unmatched courage and valour of Indian soldiers, stating that the operation was executed during the night of May 6–7, 2025.

Describing the Pahalgam terror attack as a heinous act of inhumanity, Singh said the assailants targeted civilians based on their religion. In the wake of the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting with the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, granting them full authority to initiate a decisive response. The outcome was a bold counterattack in which Indian forces penetrated deep into enemy territory, eliminating scores of terrorists in their hideouts.

“This operation avenged the sindoor of our mothers and sisters,” Singh declared emotionally. “It’s no longer just a symbol of tradition—it now represents a saga of bravery.”

Revealing the scale of the offensive, Singh cautiously mentioned that over 100 terrorists and their handlers were neutralized, though the actual number might be higher. He emphasized that India’s retaliation was proportionate and conducted strictly in self-defense. From May 7 to May 10, Pakistan launched missiles and long-range attacks targeting Indian military bases, but all were intercepted by India's advanced defense systems.

“Pakistan failed to strike a single target,” Singh said. “Our forces not only thwarted their aggression but ensured total mission success. The operation was bold, precise, and decisive.”
