New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Parliament witnessed high drama on Friday as Opposition MPs created uproar in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, raising slogans and staging protests. The Opposition demanded that all other agendas be suspended to allow an immediate discussion on issues related to the voter list and electoral democracy.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a stern warning to protesting MPs, urging them not to damage government property while staging their demonstrations. Addressing the House, Birla said, “If you raise questions with the same energy that you are shouting slogans, it would be more beneficial for the people of this country. Citizens have not sent you here to destroy government property. I am requesting and warning you that no member has the privilege to damage public property.”

The Speaker cautioned that if the unruly behavior continued, he would be forced to take “decisive action.” He reminded members that in many state assemblies, strict measures have been taken against lawmakers for such conduct. The protests stalled parliamentary proceedings, reflecting the ongoing standoff between the ruling party and the Opposition on key democratic issues.
