Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab and the Central Government are once again face to face. This time the issue is of ration card related to the Public Distribution System. Today Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the Central Government is cutting the ration cards of people under PDS (Public Distribution System). The rules of the Central Government schemes are different for Punjab, but the Center is ignoring these rules.

Actually some media reports claim that 11 lakh ration cards of Punjab are being declared ineligible by the central government on the grounds that these people are ineligible. The reason behind this is that these people are income tax payers, they have more than 5 acres of agricultural land, or they own private vehicles. These conditions violate the eligibility criteria under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Today during the press conference, first tribute was paid to comedian Jaswinder Bhalla. After this, raising the issue of ration card, Chief Minister Mann questioned the Center that sometimes one brother gets a government job. After getting a government job, he shifts to the city. What will happen to the rest of the family members? If the card holder has a car in the name of the person in whose name the card is made, then what is the fault of the others. You will starve the whole family. As long as Bhagwant Mann is the CM, he will not let even a single card be cut.
