Bollywood Scene in Real Life: UP Man Stages 5-Hour High-Tension Tower Drama for Love

KannauJ(The Uttam Hindu): A dramatic scene straight out of Bollywood’s iconic film Sholay unfolded in Kannauj’s Rasoolpur village when a man climbed a high-tension electricity tower demanding marriage to his sister-in-law.
The man, identified as Naval Kishore from Kalyanpur village, shocked locals by shouting from the top of the tower that he wanted his “Basanti” (his sister-in-law) and nothing else. The bizarre drama brought hundreds of villagers, police officials, and fire brigade teams rushing to the spot.
According to police, Kishore has already been married to his sister-in-law Sapna for the last three years after his first wife’s death. The couple also has a young daughter. However, Kishore recently started demanding marriage to Sapna’s 17-year-old younger sister, leading to frequent disputes at home.
On Thursday morning, after another heated argument, Kishore stormed out of his house and climbed the HT tower. For five hours, he refused to come down despite repeated pleas from his wife, family members, and police. The situation turned even more dramatic when his wife Sapna arrived with their daughter, trying to persuade him.
Finally, after hours of high-voltage negotiations and assurances from family members, Kishore agreed to come down around 3 PM. Eyewitnesses say he even admitted he was imitating Dharmendra’s famous “tank scene” from Sholay, where Veeru threatens to jump unless he marries Basanti.
The incident has left villagers stunned, turning an ordinary afternoon into a real-life Bollywood spectacle. Police are now questioning Kishore about his actions.
