New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Businessman Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, is once again under legal scrutiny in the high-profile Shikohpur land deal case. The Delhi-based Rouse Avenue Court has issued notices to Vadra and 10 others before formally considering the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet related to alleged money laundering.

The court has decided to hear arguments from all involved parties before taking cognizance of the charge sheet. The next hearing has been scheduled for August 28, when Vadra’s legal team will present his defense.

According to ED, the case involves the 2008 purchase of 3.53 acres of land in Gurugram's Shikohpur area, allegedly acquired using black money through a web of shell companies controlled by Vadra. The same land was later sold in 2012 for ₹58 crore to a major real estate firm, raising serious concerns over the deal’s legality and intent.

The agency has attached 43 properties worth ₹37.64 crore linked to Vadra’s network. Investigators claim that the transaction was routed through multiple firms to conceal illicit funding. The basis of the case lies in a 2008 FIR filed by Gurugram Police, which accused Vadra’s company of using false declarations to acquire the land.

The court has also instructed court officials to verify and compile all accompanying documents for a detailed report. The outcome of the August hearing could determine whether the case proceeds to trial under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
