New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a chargesheet against businessman Robert Vadra, husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in connection with the controversial Shikohpur land deal case in Haryana. Vadra’s company, Skylight Hospitality, has been accused of fraudulently acquiring land and making huge profits through alleged money laundering.

According to officials, the ED filed the chargesheet against 11 accused, including Vadra and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The case dates back to 2018, based on a complaint filed by Surender Sharma of Tauru, who alleged that in February 2008, Vadra’s company purchased 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur, Gurugram, for ₹7.5 crore from Omkareshwar Properties. After obtaining a commercial license, the same land was later sold to DLF for ₹58 crore, allegedly violating rules to reap massive profits.

The FIR states that rules were bypassed to benefit Vadra, and sections 420, 120B, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC were invoked, later adding Section 423 as well. At the time of the deal, Haryana was under a Congress-led government, with Bhupinder Hooda as the Chief Minister.

The ED has been investigating financial irregularities and possible money laundering in the deal. Notably, Vadra has faced multiple ED inquiries in other cases as well. Recently, on July 14, the ED also questioned Vadra in connection with the arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari case. This fresh chargesheet could further intensify the legal troubles for Vadra and bring renewed political heat ahead of key elections.
