Seoul(The Uttam Hindu): Russia has issued a strong warning to the United States, South Korea, and Japan against forming a military alliance targeting North Korea. The statement came during Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s recent visit to North Korea, where he met leader Kim Jong Un in Wonsan. The meeting focused on deepening military and economic ties between Moscow and Pyongyang, with Lavrov delivering a message from President Vladimir Putin.

Kim expressed unconditional support for Russia in the Ukraine conflict and emphasized that North Korea and Russia share common positions on global issues. He said their ties have evolved into a strategic alliance.

Lavrov criticized recent military drills by the US, South Korea, and Japan near the Korean Peninsula, warning that such activities could escalate tensions further. He stated that the growing trilateral cooperation should not be used against Russia or North Korea.

The West fears that Russia may be helping North Korea enhance its nuclear and missile capabilities in exchange for weapons and battlefield support. Lavrov acknowledged North Korea’s position on its nuclear program and praised its scientific achievements.

The meeting took place in Wonsan, where North Korea has recently launched a large coastal resort project aimed at showcasing development under sanctions. The evolving Russia-North Korea alliance continues to raise global security concerns.
