New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Former Governor and senior Indian politician Chaudhary Satyapal Singh Malik passed away on Tuesday in New Delhi. He had been ailing for several months and breathed his last at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.

The news of his demise was officially shared via his verified account on social media platform X, stating: “Former Governor Chaudhary Satyapal Singh Malik is no more.”

Satyapal Malik, aged 77, had served as Governor of multiple states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Goa, and Bihar. He was notably the last full-time Governor of Jammu & Kashmir before the region’s special status under Article 370 was revoked. Known for his bold and outspoken views, Malik often made headlines for his fearless political statements and advocacy for farmers' rights.

Following the announcement of his death, a wave of grief swept across the political and social landscape. Leaders from various parties expressed condolences. Former Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala said, “The passing of former Governor and senior leader Satyapal Malik is deeply saddening. He always fearlessly spoke in public interest. JJP salutes his farmer-friendly stance, simplicity, and fearless politics.”
