Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has once again stirred controversy in Amritsar. The group’s chief, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, released a video claiming responsibility for writing Khalistan slogans on the walls of the Amritsar District Court complex and for spraying anti-Gandhi family graffiti.

In his message, Pannu targeted Rahul Gandhi, Punjab Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, and MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, accusing them of sheltering the perpetrators of the 1984 riots. He further claimed that SFJ activists had also painted anti-Prime Minister Narendra Modi slogans at the Amritsar Railway Station.

Escalating his threats, Pannu declared that on the upcoming Diwali, SFJ would attempt a so-called “blackout from Ayodhya to Haridwar” — aiming to disrupt celebrations marked by the lighting of 26 lakh earthen lamps. He described Ayodhya and Diwali as “symbols of Hindutva extremism.”

The organization also accused Punjab leaders Raja Warring and Gurjeet Aujla of “insulting riot victims” by presenting a traditional siropa (robe of honor) to the Gandhi family.

Following these claims, Punjab Police and central security agencies have tightened surveillance in Amritsar. Security has been heightened around sensitive locations, and investigations have been launched. The SFJ threats have sparked sharp reactions from political and social circles, with many condemning the group’s provocative attempts to disturb peace and harmony.
